World Youth Day 2016
World Youth Day is an opportunity for young adults to gather with peers from all over the world for prayer, faith-sharing and celebration!
Bishop Paprocki has made a personal invitation that you can view here: http://vimeo.com/111747627. Please join us in Kraków in the summer of 2016!!!
We are planning an eleven-day pilgrimage through Poland. Departure will be on Friday, July 22, 2016 from Chicago flying through to Warsaw. Over these few days we will visit Czestochowa, Auschwitz and Wadowice as we head to Kraków. Once the official WYD events begin, we will participate in prayer and catechesis at various venues. The Holy Father is scheduled to arrive on Thursday, July 28 with the closing Mass on Sunday, July 31. The group will return home on Monday, August 1.
World Youth Day is for youth and young adults ages 16 - 24. Chaperones 25 years of age and older are needed as well. To participate, please complete an application for the pilgrimage. A copy is attached and it is also posted on the diocesan World Youth Day website.
Total cost is $4,198.00 pending any adjustments due to travel cost. Initial deposit of $500 is due by the end of the year. Payments are due June 15, 2015, December 15, 2015 and March 1, 2016. Payments can be made via check or online at https://secure.acceptiva.com/?cst=13a2af once your application is accepted for the pilgrimage. Registration includes round trip travel from Chicago, land transportation throughout the event, guides at appropriate times, hotel lodging in Warsaw and Krakow, some meals and the WYD registration fee. Pilgrims must provide their own passport.
The minimum age is 16 by the time of the trip, July 22, 2016. All participants must have a valid U.S. passport that is usable through February 5, 2017. Non-U.S. citizens should contact Kyle in the Office for Catechesis for passport and visa requirements.
More details will be posted in subsequent updates as planning for the pilgrimage continues. Please pass this information on to others! And plan to join us for the 2016 celebration of World Youth Day!
